AND U.S. EMBASSY HANOI ANNOUNCE:
APPLICATION OPEN FOR THE 2022 YSEALI REGIONAL WORKSHOP: ENHANCING HUMAN CAPITAL IN HEALTH
Application open period: August 9 – September 19, 2021.
Health issues have been at the center of the world’s attention, especially in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. We believe that youth leaders in the health-related sector will be the pioneers to resolve the great challenges the world is facing and enhancing human capital in health is more important than ever. To empower a new generation of emerging leaders in ASEAN and Timor-Leste, the 2022 YSEALI regional workshop: Enhancing Human Capital in Health, organized by the Institute of Population, Health and Development and U.S. Embassy Hanoi, provides a unique opportunity for emerging leaders from across Southeast Asia to bring together their potential, energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to promote the health and well-being of the ASEAN community.
The program will focus on building a strong network of young leaders from Southeast Asia who will be motivated and prepared to identify shared regional health issues and work collectively toward multiple solutions for real problems. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to address some of the most pressing human capital issues in the region’s health sector through interactive plenary sessions, breakout sessions, group work, immersive lessons, and success stories from ASEAN and U.S. practices. Furthermore, participants will be provided with exclusive leadership training activities, generous small grants (up to $5,000 each), and mentoring from top professionals to make their projects come to life.
The program will start with online activities and sessions, tentatively followed by a high-quality virtual workshop scheduled in January 2022. Changes may happen depending on the pandemic situation at the time.

APPENDIX
1. ABOUT YSEALI
What is YSEALI?
Launched in 2013, the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is the U.S. government’s signature program to strengthen leadership development and networking in Southeast Asia. Through a variety of programs and engagements, including U.S. educational and cultural exchanges, regional exchanges, and seed funding, YSEALI seeks to build the leadership capabilities of youth in the region, strengthen ties between the United States and Southeast Asia, and nurture an ASEAN community. YSEALI focuses on critical topics identified by youth in the region: civic engagement, environment and natural resources management, and entrepreneurship and economic development.
Why YSEALI?
We believe that young people are instrumental in plotting the course of Southeast Asia’s future. Approximately 65% of people in the ASEAN region are under the age of 35. Youth are innovative, creative, and eager to contribute their ideas and energy to improve not only their own lives, but the lives of others in their communities. Together, we can make a difference.
