The International Honors Program (IHP) is a program of World Learning / SIT. In 2012, this is the 4th consecutive year The Population, Health and Development (PHAD) has undertaken to hold this Program in Viet Nam. This program – IHP Cities in the 21st century, Fall 2012 Semester was conducted in Ha Noi, Viet Nam from November 11 to December 15, 2012 with the participant of 35 students from different U.S well-known universities. During learning time in Viet Nam, all students had opportunities to learn about Vietnamese history, Urbanization, emerging social problems in cities, and social protection. Besides that, the students had a profound experience when site visiting to social protection centers: The Blue Dragon, Peace village, and Friendship village. And an experience which has made an unforgettable memory for students was site visiting to Lac Village, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province. All students were explored and enjoyed ethnic minorities’ life.
End of the course, each student had own case study about an issue in Viet Nam (such as: Urbanization, Fortune teller, Music, Waste manager, Housing, Culture, Environment…). Moreover, all the U.S students had a big opportunity for cultural exchange when stay with host family during their time in Hanoi.
